These Terms govern your use of Golf Venues ("the service", "the site"). By creating an account or otherwise using the site, you agree to these Terms.

1. About us

Golf Venues is a directory and round-tracking service for golfers across the British Isles. We are based in the United Kingdom.

2. Your account

• You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
• You're responsible for keeping your password secure and for activity on your account.
• You agree to provide accurate information and to keep your details up to date.
• One person, one account. Don't impersonate others or use a misleading username.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Upload content that is unlawful, defamatory, harassing, hateful, or infringes anyone's rights.
• Upload sexual or pornographic imagery, nudity, or any content that sexualises, exploits or endangers a child.
• Impersonate another person, or use your profile, avatar or header image for advertising, promotion or spam.
• Attempt to access another user's account or interfere with the site's operation.
• Scrape, crawl, harvest, or use automated means (bots, spiders, scripts, headless browsers or AI agents) to access, collect, copy or monitor any part of the site or its data, except by a general-purpose search engine acting within our robots.txt.
• Extract or re-utilise all or a substantial part of the club, course, scorecard, tee or rating data, whether by repeated or systematic access of insubstantial parts or otherwise.
• Use any content from the site to train, fine-tune, ground or otherwise develop a machine-learning or AI model or dataset.
• Copy, republish, redistribute, sell, sub-licence or commercially exploit any content or data from the site without our prior written permission or a licence from us.
• Use the service to send spam or unsolicited communications.

Reporting and moderation. You can report a user from their profile page. We review reports and, where content or behaviour breaches these Terms, we may remove the content (including avatars and header images), warn you, or suspend or close your account. We will normally email you to explain any action taken on your account, and a suspended account is signed out and cannot access the service until reinstated. A serious or repeated breach may result in a permanent suspension, in which case the account's email address and username can no longer be used to register. We report illegal content — including child sexual abuse material — to the police and the relevant authorities (such as the National Crime Agency / CEOP and the Internet Watch Foundation) as required by law.

4. Content you upload

You retain ownership of content you upload (round data, photos, profile information). You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display, and distribute that content within the service for the purpose of running the platform.

5. Club listings and sponsored content

Golf venue listings on this site may include sponsored placements arranged independently through Golf Venues. Sponsored content does not represent any official affiliation, endorsement, or partnership with the clubs themselves.

We make reasonable efforts to keep listing information accurate but do not guarantee accuracy, completeness, or availability of any club, course, or facility. Always check directly with the venue before travelling.

6. Round data

The score-tracking features rely on data you (and other players) enter. Scores, handicaps and statistics are not officially verified. Don't rely on them for official handicap calculation.

7. Service availability

We aim to keep the service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may suspend, withdraw, or modify the service at any time without notice.

8. Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the service is provided "as is" without warranty. We are not liable for indirect, consequential, or incidental losses, lost profits, or loss of data arising from use of the site. Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death, personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.

9. Intellectual property and database rights

The site name, logo, design, and software are owned by us. You may not copy or reuse them without permission.

The compiled collection of golf club, course, scorecard, tee, rating and related data made available on this site (the "Database") has been assembled, verified and maintained through our own substantial investment. We own, and expressly reserve, all rights in the Database, including copyright in its selection and arrangement and the sui generis database right under the Copyright and Rights in Databases Regulations 1997 (and equivalent rights in other jurisdictions). Individual facts are not claimed as our property, but the Database as a whole — and any substantial part of it — is protected.

You may not extract or re-utilise all or a substantial part of the Database, nor repeatedly or systematically extract or re-utilise insubstantial parts, by any means and in any medium, without a written licence from us. We expressly reserve our rights against text and data mining, including the reservation of rights under Article 4 of EU Directive 2019/790 and the equivalent UK regime. Commercial access to the Database is available by licence — contact us to discuss.

Third-party trademarks referenced on this site, including World Handicap System™, WHS™ and Handicap Index® (trademarks of the USGA and The R&A) and the names and logos of individual golf clubs, belong to their respective owners. They are used for identification and description only; no affiliation with or endorsement by any trademark owner is implied.

Scorecards. The scorecard sections on course pages and the downloadable scorecard PDFs are compiled works forming part of the Database. Registered users may download and print scorecard PDFs for their own personal, non-commercial use — for example to mark a round. Scorecards may not be redistributed, republished, uploaded to any other site or service, sold, incorporated into another product or dataset, or presented as anyone else's work, and the Golf Venues branding and notices they carry must remain intact on every copy. Clubs wishing to reproduce the scorecard for their own course are welcome to contact us.

10. Termination

You can delete your account at any time from My Account. We may suspend an account pending review, or close accounts that breach these Terms.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be flagged in-app or by email. Continued use after the change date counts as acceptance.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
