Royal Portrush Golf Club

Portrush · County of Antrim · BT56 8JQ

Northern Ireland

Royal Portrush Golf Club occupies a commanding position on the County Antrim coast at Portrush, with two links courses designed by Harry Colt. The Dunluce Course, opened in 1929, plays to par 71 over 18 holes and has hosted the Open Championship. Valley Links followed in 1932, a par-70 layout also spanning 18 holes. Both courses exploit the dramatic clifftop setting and prevailing Atlantic winds characteristic of the Irish north coast.

The club's dual-course setup offers contrasting playing experiences within the same links environment. Colt's routing on each course reflects his signature approach to design—strategic bunkering, natural contours, and demanding approaches into greens. Royal Portrush remains one of the few Irish clubs to have staged golf's oldest major championship, cementing its standing in British and Irish golf.
