Royal Ashdown Forest Golf Club occupies heathland in Forest Row, East Sussex, and operates two eighteen-hole courses. The Old Course, designed by Archie Simpson and opened in 1888, plays to par 72. The West Course followed fifteen years later in 1903 and plays to par 68. Both layouts take advantage of the natural heath terrain that characterises the Ashdown Forest landscape.
The club's dual-course setup allows for flexible play and the ability to host concurrent events across different standards of difficulty. The heathland setting, with its sandy soils and open character, provides the foundation for both layouts, each reflecting the design philosophies of their respective eras.
