Moortown Golf Club lies on the outskirts of Leeds in West Yorkshire, on the Harrogate Road. Dr. Alister MacKenzie designed the 18-hole heathland course, which opened in 1909 and plays to a par of 72. The layout reflects MacKenzie's characteristic approach to course design, with its routing across the natural terrain of the Yorkshire heathland.

The club has maintained its standing as one of the notable heathland courses in northern England since its opening over a century ago. The course's design has proven sufficiently durable that it continues to be played much as MacKenzie conceived it.
