Haigh Hall Golf Club occupies Haigh Woodland Park on the outskirts of Wigan, Greater Manchester. The Balcarres Course, an 18-hole par 71 layout, opened in 1960 and makes use of the park's established tree cover and topography. The woodland setting provides a quieter environment than many urban courses in the North West, with mature plantings framing much of the routing.
The club has operated continuously since its foundation, drawing membership from across the Wigan area and beyond. The length and vintage design reflect standards typical of the post-war expansion of golf in Lancashire, when many new courses were developed on accessible parkland near industrial towns.
