Fortwilliam Golf Club is an 18-hole parkland course in north Belfast, established in 1891. The par-70 layout occupies a setting typical of the city's Victorian-era clubs, when golf expansion was taking hold across Ulster. The club has maintained its original character through the intervening decades, though like many long-established courses, it has evolved through successive renovations and management decisions. Parkland courses of this vintage often benefit from mature tree-lined fairways and established greens complexes, features that typically develop only over generations. At Fortwilliam, the combination of age and location within a city neighbourhood means the course has adapted to its surrounding terrain rather than being built to exacting specifications. The club remains an active fixture in Belfast's golfing landscape and continues to serve the local membership.
